Prestigious hotel chain Hilton Worldwide and Sands China have announced the inception of Macau, Cotai Strip in Macau, China. The new hotel will officially open in the first quarter of 2012. Cited to be one of the finest hotels in Macau, the hotel will comprise of 636 rooms, and all the luxurious facilities that the Hilton group and Sands China are well known for. The hotel, which will open under the Conrad brand of the Hilton Worldwide's luxury segment is the first of 18 Conrad Brand hotels scheduled to open in the next four years, according to a Hilton Worldwide spokesperson. The Conrad Macau will specifically provide accommodation for affordable luxury on the Cotai Strip in Macau, and also high-end branded products for premium guests seeking an extravagant luxury lifestyle.

A tourism pact between Macau and China is designed to improve the quality of package tours from the mainland and guard against growing tourism fraud. The new pact will crack down on practices like zero fee tour packages and forced shopping beginning on August 1. The pact imposes six new requirements that package tours must meet, in order to reinforce mainland tourism regulations in Macau and increase tour quality.

Specifically, tour contracts must now explicitly state details of all included arrangements such as meals, sightseeing, accommodation, shopping, transport and entertainment. They must also identify the main shopping venues in the resort and specify how much of the itinerary will be dedicated to shopping. Contracts must also detail all tour fees and whether there are optional itineraries which will be offered for an extra charge.

Discount fares to Hong Kong and Macau are now being offered from Cebu Pacific, the largest national carrier in the Philippines. CEB operates the most flights between Hong Kong and the Philippines, and also offers four daily flights to Manila, Cebu and Clark.
